In-store audio

In-store audio shapes how customers experience a visit. The right background music at the right volume creates atmosphere, while clear announcements help both customers and staff. StoreIQ plans and installs sound systems with zones, announcements and licensed music for stores across Sweden.

Benefits for your store

  • Even sound throughout the store at lower volume
  • Zones with their own volume and content
  • Announcements from the till or a microphone
  • Scheduled messages for promotions and closing time
  • Help finding a properly licensed music service
  • Discreet speakers that suit your interior

Even sound throughout the store

A common problem in stores is music that is too loud in some areas and barely audible in others. With the right number of speakers in the right places, sound spreads evenly across the floor. We look at the size of the store, ceiling height and fittings, and recommend ceiling or wall speakers that suit both the acoustics and the look of the space.

A well-planned system can play at a lower volume and still be heard clearly everywhere. That makes the sound more pleasant for customers and less tiring for staff who spend all day in the store. We take materials such as glass, concrete and fabric into account and fine-tune the system to the acoustics once the speakers are in place.

Zones with their own volume and content

Zones with their own volume and content

Different parts of a store often need different sound. Near the entrance the music might be more prominent, while fitting rooms, tills or a quieter department need lower volume. With zones you control volume and content separately for each area, and the sound can be switched off completely in staff rooms or the stockroom. Zones are easy to control from a panel or app.

Volume can also be scheduled by time of day, so it adapts to how busy the store is and staff do not have to adjust it by hand. Settings are made once during installation and can be changed whenever needed, for example ahead of holidays, campaign weeks or when opening hours change.

Announcements and scheduled messages

The system can be used for announcements from the till or a microphone, for example to call for staff or to let customers know the store is about to close. Scheduled messages about promotions, opening hours or offers can play automatically at set times. It gives a professional impression and saves staff from making the same announcement several times a day.

For chains, the same messages can play in every store, with the option to tailor content locally. Combined with digital signage, it is easy to promote the same campaign in both sound and image. Announcements can also be given priority so the music dips automatically when someone speaks, making the message clearer for everyone in the store.

Licensed music and installation

Music from personal streaming subscriptions is generally not licensed for public playback in a store. Background music needs a service and licences that cover public performance. We help you find a business music service so you can play music in the right way. The exact licences you need should be confirmed with the service provider.

Installation is done outside opening hours, including cabling and mounting of speakers and amplifiers. With a service agreement you have one contact for audio and the rest of your store technology, and we help if anything stops working. We can also extend the system if the store is refitted or gains new departments.

Frequently asked questions

Can we play music from a regular streaming service in the store?

Generally not. Personal streaming subscriptions are intended for private use. Music in a store requires a service and licences that cover public performance. We help you find a business music service, and the licensing details should be confirmed with the provider.

How many speakers do we need?

That depends on the size of the store, ceiling height and fittings. More speakers at a lower volume usually give a more even and pleasant sound than a few speakers turned up loud. We recommend the number and positions after a visit to your store.

Can we have different volumes in different parts of the store?

Yes. With zones, volume and content are controlled separately for each area. The tills or a quieter department can have lower volume while the music is more noticeable near the entrance, and sound can be switched off completely in staff areas.

Can the system be used for announcements?

Yes, announcements can be made from a microphone or via the till. You can also add pre-recorded messages that play automatically at set times, for example before closing. We show you how it all works during installation.

Can you build on our existing sound system?

It is often possible to keep speakers or cabling and add a new amplifier or zone control. We review your existing equipment during the visit and advise what is worth keeping and what should be replaced.
