Grocery and convenience

Store technology for grocery and convenience stores

In a grocery store, prices change every week, promotions follow one another and the shelf edge must always match the till. StoreIQ supplies electronic shelf labels, POS, security and networks that work together. We install across Sweden, outside opening hours, and you have one contact for everything.

Challenges we often solve

  • Frequent price changes

Weekly promotions, new deliveries and price adjustments mean staff replace hundreds of paper labels. It takes time away from customers and restocking, and a single missed change is enough for the shelf and the till to show different prices.

  • Unit prices and 30-day lowest price

Unit prices must be shown clearly, and when prices are reduced the previous lowest price over 30 days needs to be tracked. Calculating and printing this by hand for every item is time-consuming and easy to get wrong.

  • Shrinkage and staff safety

Long opening hours, few staff in the evening and many visitors make shrinkage and difficult situations common challenges. Staff need to feel safe at work, and the store needs to be able to follow up on what has happened.

  • Technology that must always work

Tills, card terminals, labels and cameras all depend on the network. When something stops working on a busy Saturday morning it affects the whole store, and having a different supplier for every system quickly becomes messy.

The right price on the shelf with electronic shelf labels

The right price on the shelf with electronic shelf labels

With electronic shelf labels, prices are taken directly from your POS or ERP system. When you change a price or set up a promotion, the shelf edge updates within minutes, and the promotion starts and ends at exactly the right time. Staff no longer need to print and swap paper labels and can spend that time on customers, restocking and fresh produce instead.

The labels can show unit prices and the previous lowest price based on the data in your system, making it easier to work in line with price information rules. A light on the label can flash to guide picking of online orders and restocking. You can see the status of every label, such as battery level and last update, in StoreIQ Hub.

POS, network and security that work together

We help you with POS systems, card terminals and self-checkout, and connect them to the prices on the shelf. Behind the scenes we build a stable network with separate segments for tills, equipment and guests, a firewall and a 4G or 5G backup connection if the fibre goes down. That way the store can keep taking payments even when something unexpected happens.

Cameras at the entrance, tills and stockroom give staff a safer working environment and a record when something needs following up. We help you position the cameras correctly and advise on signage and retention periods under GDPR. Intruder alarms and access control protect the store when it is closed, and everything appears in the same overview.

One supplier from the first visit to ongoing support

We start with a store visit where we go through the store, its flows and the technology you already have. You receive a clear proposal with a fixed price and timeline. Installation takes place outside opening hours, in the evening or overnight, so the store can stay open as usual. We install across Sweden, from a single convenience store to entire chains.

After installation we continue to look after the technology. With a service agreement we monitor labels, cameras, network and alarms, and send an engineer when something needs fixing. You have one contact for everything instead of one supplier per system, and StoreIQ Hub shows the status of the whole store on a single screen.

Frequently asked questions

Can the shelf labels connect to our POS system?

In most cases, yes. The labels take prices and product data from your POS or ERP system. During the store visit we review which system you use and how the connection can be made. If no system is connected, products and prices can also be imported from a file.

Do the labels show unit prices and the 30-day lowest price?

The labels can show unit prices and the previous lowest price based on the data in your system. This makes price information easier to manage, but the store remains responsible for the data being correct and for following the rules. For questions of interpretation, we recommend seeking legal advice.

Does the store have to close during installation?

No. We plan the installation outside opening hours, often in the evening or overnight, so the store can stay open as usual. Before we start, we go through the timeline with you so staff know what will happen and when the new labels and systems go live.

What is included in a service agreement?

A service agreement covers monitoring of labels, cameras, network and alarms, support by phone, email and remote assistance, and on-site visits and equipment replacement when needed. The exact scope is tailored to the needs of the store and set out in the quote, for a fixed monthly fee.
